FAQs
Children's Art Classes
What do my kids learn?
At the start, students will focus on learning basic drawing techniques using a pencil, helping them gain confidence in sketching what they see. Once they’ve developed a solid foundation, we’ll move on to more advanced skills, exploring painting with watercolours, acrylics, and gouache.
How long is the class?
For young kids (ages 4–6): 30 minutes per class.
For children (ages 7–14): 1 hour per class
For teens (ages 13–18): 1,5 hour per class
It is 1 class per week (depending on which day of the week you sign up for, your kid will have from 3 to 4 or 5 classes per month).
There is no class during public holiday/s.
How much does it cost?
The class fee for young kids (ages 4–6) and children (ages 7–14) with Luna is €50/month and a trial class costs €12.
The class fee for teens (ages 13-18) with Irina cost €75 for a course of 6 lessons. A trial class for this course costs €12.
The class fee for teens (ages 13-18) with Patrick cost €192 for a whole course of 16 lessons. A trial class for this course costs €12.
This supports quality, materials, and the atelier operation. Thank you!
For what age group?
Our classes are designed for children across different age groups and are customized based on each group’s abilities and attention spans.
We currently offer three children age groups: young kids (ages 4–6), children (ages 7–14), and teens (ages 13–18).
What languages are given in the class?
Luna teaches classes in three languages: Dutch, English, and Vietnamese. She communicates with the whole class mainly in Dutch, and with each individual child in their preferred language.
The other instructors also speak multiple languages. The primary languages used in class are Dutch and English, but an instructor’s mother tongue (for example Spanish, English, or Russian) can be used when needed to support communication with a child, especially if the child has recently moved to the Netherlands.
How many kids do you have per class?
Each class can accommodate up to 20 students. Typically, one assistant supports the instructor during the lesson.
What if my financial situation doesn’t allow me to pay for the kid's art classes?
Let us know, we can talk about it and Jeugdfonds Sports and Culture Almere may be able to help out.
Why is your trial class not free of charge?
We give the same amount of time, attention, and art supplies to every kid. There is no difference between the trial class and the actual class.
What happens if my child is sick?
Kindly let us know at least 1 hour before the class starts or as soon as possible so we won’t expect the kid to come.
What happens if my child cannot attend the class because of personal reason?
Kindly let us know at least 1 hour before the class starts or as soon as possible so we won’t expect the kid to come.

How to find your exact location?
The new atelier is now (since October 2025) located on the 3rd floor of the Saeckenborgh office building, the best way to enter is by the main entrance. At the front side of the building, it is to the left side of SIXT car rental office. At the back side of the building, it is to the left side of the main entrance of Ekoplaza supermarket.
Who are the art teachers for the classes?
Luna teaches the majority of our art classes, and we also have other instructors leading sessions in the atelier. Over the past two years, our art school has grown organically, which is why you may see different teachers for some classes.
We keep our students informed about who will be teaching each class through our Classes & News pages on the website and our monthly newsletter. Be sure to check the details regularly or subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date.
Do you teach anything other than drawing and painting during class?
The class primarily focuses on drawing and painting techniques. Once a month, we also organize a creative workshop exploring other art forms, such as 3D projects with clay, paper, fabric, wood, stone, and materials from nature or recycled/upcycled items. By introducing different techniques and materials, we help children discover new ways to express themselves while encouraging creativity and respect for the environment.
These workshops are integrated into the curriculum to enrich the learning experience. Over the years, students also have the opportunity to showcase their artwork in public exhibitions organised regularly by the atelier, supporting not only their artistic skills but also their confidence, creativity, and personal growth.
How long does my child need to stay in class?
Art classes require a minimum commitment of one month and are billed monthly. You may sign up for 1, 2, or 3 months, or continue on a monthly basis until you cancel. Payment is due before the start of each new month.
Does my child need any experience to sign up?
No, your child does not need any prior experience to enroll. It’s essential for kids to explore different forms of art, allowing them to develop their talents and grow creatively.
What if there is no spot available in your class and I want to sign up for my child on this day of the week?
We will inform you and add you to our waiting list. We will get back to you as soon as a spot becomes available, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can my child bring a phone to the classroom?
Yes, your child can bring a phone, but they are not allowed to use it during class, and it should be on silent mode. After class, they can call you, or you can reach out to them.
If we want to stop the class, what should we do?
If you or your child wish to discontinue the class, kindly inform us no later than the 15th of the current month.
Otherwise, the class fee for the following month will still apply.
The class fee is not refundable, and your kid is expected to attend all the remaining paid classes before stopping.
What happens if there is bad weather (snow, storm, etc.)?
Classes will normally continue as scheduled, unless we decide it is unsafe to do so.
If a class takes place, no refunds are given for students who are unable to attend due to bad weather. The class fee covers reserved studio time, materials, preparation, and instruction, and these costs continue regardless of weather conditions.
Travel to and from the studio is the responsibility of the student.
If we must cancel a class due to extreme circumstances, we will offer a replacement class or a suitable alternative where possible.
What happens if an instructor cannot teach a class due to illness or other circumstances?
If an instructor is unable to teach a class due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, the class fee will not be refundable. We will either reschedule the class with the same instructor or arrange a suitable replacement. Students will be notified as soon as possible of any changes.
Can I make up a missed class?
Make-up classes are not guaranteed and depend on availability. Missed classes cannot be carried over to future courses unless explicitly agreed.
Are there atelier rules?
Students are expected to treat the studio, materials, and each other with respect and care. Damage caused by misuse may be charged.
Is the art school liable for injuries or damage?
We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all students. While we take every reasonable precaution, the art school cannot accept responsibility for personal injury, loss, or damage to personal belongings.
