To celebrate International Women’s Day, Luna Nguyen Atelier invites women to take part in a unique artistic portrait experience inspired by the strength, identity, and spirit of Frida Kahlo.
We are calling for 15 participants to join this special project.
Why Frida Kahlo?
Frida Kahlo remains a powerful symbol of self-expression, resilience, and authenticity. Through her art, she embraced pain, identity, heritage, and womanhood without compromise. Frida continues to inspire generations of women to be unapologetically themselves and to transform personal experiences into creative strength.
This project is not about imitation, but about interpretation—how Frida’s spirit resonates in your own life, body, and story.
The Portrait Day

Please select and bring your own clothing to reflect your personal interpretation of Frida Kahlo.
In addition to the photoshoot, participants will be invited to write a short personal reflection on the question: “In what way does Frida Kahlo give me the courage to be myself?” These reflections may become part of the exhibition. Participants may write 100 – 250 words.
What’s included:
- Professional makeup (provided on site)
- A professional photoshoot
- Tea, coffee, and snacks
- One selected portrait featured in the exhibition
- The chosen photo (1) will be printed by LNA as part of the exhibition and is included in the price.

Interview met Inaya - LNA Kid Ambassador 2025 - 2026 school year
Kunst is emotie.
Interview with Myiesha - LNA Kid Drawing Competition Winner 2025-2026 School Year
- Iedereen is creatief.
Interview with Harriette - LNA adult ambassador 2025-2026 school year
Iedereen is ooit ergens begonnen!

Sunday, 1 June:
14:00 – 15:00 | Face Painting for Kids
Learn Dutch with Luna through Poetry & Art
Sundays in 2025, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd — From 13:00 to 15:00 by The New Library Almere Stad
‘Since I’ve moved to The Netherlands, it has been a constant struggle with many new factors, from finding a job, to learning the new language, to adapting to the cold weather, to connecting to the people and its culture.
In that long list, there were many things I couldn’t change, and if I could, it may take a long time. But I have decided to focus on what I can change quickly, and that is the language skill.
That was the best decision I have made, because the Dutch language was a bridge to connect me with almost everything else that was new.
Within 2 years I got to level B2 and could stand and lead the class in their mother tongue. From teaching in many different schools to having my own atelier. From having 2 students when it was open last year to having 60 students as of now, and still more are coming. I’m super grateful and also proud of my dedication and hard work.
I completed a poetry writing course in the library 2 years ago and after that I took 1 year to write my first book:”New in The Netherlands” and published it last year in June 2024.
To master my writing skill, I attended another creative poetry writing course with the University of Oxford and passed with high remarks, which was a big surprise and motivation for me to go on, because most of my classmates speak English as their first language and I sometimes still need to use google translate to find the word’s meaning.
I’m happy and honoured to collaborate with the new library Almere Stad to conduct a one-of-a-kind workshop: “Learn Dutch through Poetry writing and Art.”
You can check out this link (and also at my bio) for more details and to sign up. Please feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested or benefits from this workshop.
I’m looking forward to welcoming you there, to share with you the knowledge I’ve learned in the past few years, and to discovering the beauty of the Dutch language together.
My goal is to help as many people as possible to make this place a home sooner and easier. See you soon!’
LNA Exhibition by Almere Stadhuis
6th January – 28th January 2025
Luna has been invited to showcase her artworks and book at the Stadhuis during the New Year Celebration. The paintings will be continuing exhibited from 6th January until 28th January.
Painting description:
Ikigai
Acrylic painting on canvas by Luna Nguyen
180 x 180 x 3 cm
December 2024 – January 2025
‘Life itself is the greatest treasure, and family is the most valuable part of it. Family goes beyond blood ties; it’s the people we meet who make us feel at home— friends who care for us like siblings and strangers who welcome us, sharing their culture, language, and traditions.
This painting tells a personal story of me and my daughter adjusting to life in a new country. It wasn’t easy, and we often longed for our family’s presence.
Each symbol in the painting represents loved ones: the tiger for my father, the snake for my mother, the monkey for my sister (in which of the 12 Vietnamese zodiac cycle years that they are born), and the cat for our late pet.
The cat serves as a reminder to cherish life, appreciate every moment, making the most of every day while we are still here. After all, the only certainties in life are its beginning and its end.
The magnolia tree (brought to Europe many centuries ago from the East by an Italian botanist) in the background symbolises being grounded, supported by the Earth, and blooming to share beauty and resilience, offering its grace to life and those around it.
I named this painting Ikigai—a Japanese concept meaning “a reason for living” or “a purpose in life,” blending life’s worth and meaning into a single, profound idea.’

I just like what I see and get inspired.
